FAQ's

1. Does teeth whitening really work?
Yes! The surface of the teeth contains millions of microscopic pores, and over the years, organic compounds from food, sodas, tea, coffee or tobacco penetrate these pores causing discoloration of the tooth enamel. It may take more than one treatment to reach your desired color but almost all natural teeth respond to the whitening process.

2. How does the Advanced system work?
Teeth whitening is actually a bleaching process that lightens discolorations of the tooth enamel. The Advanced process uses a peroxide-based gel that is inserted into a disposable double-sided mouthpiece; the gel is then activated by our patented blue-LED/UV light system. As the active ingredient is broken down, the U.V. light and the warmth acts upon the stained organic deposits, which oxidizes them into a white color. This process makes the overall tooth color closer to its natural unstained color. Your tooth structure remains unchanged. Years of clinical tests have demonstrated the safety and effectiveness of this system.

3. Is the Light safe?
Yes, the light operates well outside of the UV-A range. Tanning beds operate in the UV-A range of 340-400 nanometers, our light operates at 430 to 500 nanometers.

4. How long does it take?
Unlike other whitening treatments that can take hours, days or even weeks, The Advanced treatments only require 15 minutes per sessions. Most clients see dramatic results in one treatment, while some clients will choose to have multiple treatments to obtain the brightest smile possible (ask about our package rates).

5. Does Teeth Whitening damage the enamel of the teeth?
Research shows that hydrogen peroxide poses no risk to tooth enamel.

6. Does whitening work on veneers, crowns, bridges and fillings?
Although it may remove some surface stains on the crown, the crowns do not lighten from their original color with the Advanced process. The same is true for composites, bridges, and veneers.

7. Will it hurt?
Most people find the procedure completely painless, however a small percentage may experience a tingling of the gums or temporary sensitivity to hot and cold for a short period following treatment.

8. How long will the results last?
The Advanced procedure will typically last for 12-24 months, depending on your particular eating, drinking and smoking habits. Your teeth stained in the first place from consuming foods and beverages. Exposure to foods, drinks (especially coffee, colas and red wines), smoking and other consumables will gradually darken teeth again over time. Many clients choose to have a touch-up treatment every 6-12 months will maintain their bright smile.

9. Who will benefit from teeth whitening?
Almost everyone will enjoy the benefits of the teeth whitening process if teeth and gums are healthy.

10. Can anyone have their teeth whitened?
Not everyone, but most people can have their teeth whitened by Advanced. While this technology is well proven and is completely safe, for precautionary purposes it is not recommended for people younger than 16 years old, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, individuals that have had oral surgery within the past 30 days, or who have unhealthy teeth / gum disease. Those with grey teeth or tetracycline damage will see limited results. If you have questions on if this process is right for you please see your dental professional.

11. Is the gel and peroxide you offer the same as from my family dentist?
The active ingredient contained in all whitening products is hydrogen peroxide. Research shows that this active ingredient is capable of penetrating the surface of the tooth enamel without affecting it. A dentist however, can use a solution much stronger than 6%. Remember as the solutions percentage increases so do the side effects.

12. How long before I can eat or drink after my treatment?
We recommend drinking plenty of water and avoiding food during the first hour after your Advanced treatment. During the first 24 hours we would recommend to avoid coffee, tea, dark colored sodas, red wines, berries, candy, red sauces, beets, or any foods that have the propensity to stain. Remember if it will stain a t-shirt, it will stain your teeth.
